BC Hydro Fall Heat Pump Bonus: Up to $1,000 Extra Before October 31
BC Hydro has announced a limited-time bonus for heat pump installations this fall, and the structure of it makes timing matter more than usual. Here is what was shared with industry members in late July, ahead of the public launch on August 1, 2026.
What is being offered
- Up to $1,000 in bonus rebates for BC Hydro customers who complete and pay for an eligible air source heat pump installation within the promotion window
- A chance to win one of three $5,000 prizes
The dates that matter
- Installations must be completed, invoiced, and paid in full between August 1 and October 31, 2026
- Applications must be submitted by November 30, 2026
- Bonus funding is limited and first-come, first-served
Why “first-come, first-served” changes the math
The application deadline is November 30, but that date is not the real constraint. Limited, first-come funding means the money can run out before the deadline arrives, and BC rebate budgets have a history of doing exactly that in high-demand years. An installation completed in August has a meaningfully better shot at the bonus than one completed in late October.
Working backwards: a heat pump project needs a site visit, a quote, equipment availability, and an installation date. If you want to land inside this window comfortably, the quote conversation should happen in August, not October.
What counts as eligible
The promotion applies to eligible air source heat pump installations for BC Hydro customers. As with every rebate program, “eligible” is defined by equipment lists and program rules, and this bonus sits alongside the existing provincial programs we track on our BC Rebate Tracker. How it combines with other rebates for your specific project is exactly the kind of thing we confirm when we quote, in writing, before you commit.
